Hikes are usually scheduled Tuesday evenings and on Saturday & Sunday.  Additional hikes are held during the day on either Wednesday, Thursday and/or Friday.

Meet: Community United Methodist Church, 14700 Watertown Plank Road, Elm Grove.  Please park up in the southeast corner of the lot.

Meet: Glacial Hills County Park, 1664 Friess Lake Rd, Hubertus.

Directions: Take Hwy. 41/45 north to Hwy. 167/Holy Hill Rd. Head west about 5.5 miles to Friess Lake Rd. (same road as Fox and Hounds restaurant). Do not be confused with Friess Lake Drive which comes first. Park is .3 miles on left.  Take drive all the way to the last parking lot.

Urban hike through Milwaukee’s spectacular downtown, along its waterfronts, and in its Lower East Side and Third Ward neighborhoods. The Last Tuesday Series departs from MSOE and follows a different route each month. Restrooms available at the start of the hike only. Routes for this yearlong series are on paved streets with some stairs and hills. Back by popular demand, completion, tokens will be given to hikers finishing each monthly hike.

HIKE ALONG THE NOJOSHING TRAIL
Meet: St. Francis Brewery 3825

S. Kinninckinnic, St. Francis. Park at the back (north-east end) of the St. Francis Brewery parking lot, at the corner of Kinninckinnic and Howard Avenues.

There really is a Nojoshing trail leading into the Oak Leaf trail. We will walk past the new FBI building and then along either the beach, or the bluffs (weather permitting).

 

Optional fun after the hike.  We will start and end at the St. Francis Brewery. Tuesday is a special day at the brewery; they will have a selected craft beer that they feature for $1 a pint. Food is reasonably priced and the atmosphere is casual. Stick around for a bit to eat and or a beer.

DOWNTOWN CHICAGO AND MACY’S FLOWER SHOW
Meet: 7:45 a.m. at Ryan Road Park & Ride, east of I-94 on the north side of Ryan Road; OR, at 8:45 a.m. at the Lake Forest Train Station.  Plan to carpool to the Lake Forest Train Station and catch the 9:03 a.m. train to Chicago. The ticket price is $8.00 for unlimited weekend riding!

This hike will explore some of Chicago’s loop area or areas north of the river and will include a stop for lunch. The main event of the hike will be the annual visit to Macy’s Flower Show on State Street before heading back to the station.  Never disappointing, this year’s flower show theme is Carnival.

 

Plans are to return on the 3:35 p.m. train.  This will get us back to Lake Forest about 4:20 p.m. and to the Milwaukee area between 5:30-6:00 p.m.  There will be restrooms at the train station. 

Note: There are two Lake Forest train stations. You want the one on the Union Pacific North Line at 691 N. Western Ave.  If you have Internet access, check out trains by going to www.metrarail.com Metra Union Pacific North Line for the Saturday Inbound and Outbound Lake Forest schedule.

Directions: From Hwy. 33, West Bend, take Schmidt Road north to the parking lot at 300 Schmidt Road. The Washington County Court House is at the corner of Hwy. 33 and Schmidt Road.

This nature preserve includes a variety of terrain around lakes and wetlands and through forest, prairie, and glacial landscapes. We also hike a segment of the Eisenbahn Trail. Spring flowers may be blooming. Restrooms at the start and mid-hike.
