Hikes are usually scheduled Tuesday evenings and on Saturday & Sunday.  Additional hikes are held during the day on either Wednesday, Thursday and/or Friday.

PLEASANT VALLEY PARK, TOWN OF CEDARBURG (HIKE OR SNOWSHOE)
Meet:
Pleasant Valley Park, 5100 Pleasant Valley Road

Directions: From Hwy. 60, Grafton, take 12th Ave. north.  (12th will become N. Green Bay Rd.)  Drive about 2-1/2 miles to Pleasant Valley Road.  Drive west about  1-1/2 miles to Pleasant Valley Park on the north side of the road.  The sign for the park and the road to the parking lot is partially obscured by a row of tall evergreens.

Restrooms available at businesses at the stoplights at 12th Ave. and Hwy. 60 in Grafton. This is a beautiful winter trail.  The trail is relatively flat with a few hills.  If trail conditions are not suitable, we will hike quiet subdivisions and country roads.

Kelly Senior Center, 6100 South Lake Drive, Cudahy.

Prepare for the weather; think snowshoes. There are no facilities other than a porta-potty at Warnimont Dog Run just south of the parking lot or Aurora South Shore Hospital before meeting for the hike.

LAST TUESDAY SERIES
Meet: MSOE Student Center, 1025 N. Broadway, corner of Broadway and Highland. Street parking on Broadway and Highland Avenue.

Urban hike through Milwaukee’s spectacular downtown, along its waterfronts, and in its Lower East Side and Third Ward neighborhoods. The Last Tuesday Series departs from MSOE and follows a different route each month. Restrooms available at the start of the hike only. Routes for this yearlong series are on paved streets with some stairs and hills. Back by popular demand, completion tokens will be given to hikers finishing each monthly hike.

Meet: McKinley Marina parking lot. Directions: From Lincoln Memorial Drive, turn east at Lafayette Hill Dr.  at traffic light, park on left.

Time for a winter indoor picnic at Anna’s condo after the hike. Beverage and entrée will be provided. Please feel free to bring your favorite edibles to share. Restroom break available at middle of the hike.

MILWAUKEE ZOO IN THE WINTER (Free Admission)
Meet:  Wisconsin Avenue Park, 10300 West Wisconsin Avenue, Wauwatosa.

Participants are asked to “stick together” during the hike.  We will spend time indoors and outside.  How much in either will depend on the weather that day.  Please remember, this is a hike, but hikers will have the option at the end of the hike to remain at the Zoo and make their own way back to their vehicles if they would like to stay longer and linger.

SNOWSHOE LAPHAM PEAK – ICE AGE TRAIL
Meet:  Lapham Peak Kettle Moraine State Forest, Southern Unit (east side of Hwy. C, one mile south of I-94) in the Evergreen Grove Picnic Area.

NIGHT LIGHTS IN WAUKESHA
Meet:  Parking lot across from the Waukesha County Courthouse, 515 West Moreland Blvd. Highway J (Pewaukee Road) and Moreland Boulevard.

We will be traveling primarily on residential city streets and distance will depend on weather.  There will not be a scheduled bathroom stop on the route.  Flashlights & reflective gear are recommended.

MIDWINTER HIKE AND VALENTINE’S PARTY
Meet: Betty Storey’s house at 5515 S. Bonnie Lane, Hales Corners (one block west of S. 92nd St. and Grange Ave., east of Forest Home Ave.)

We will walk either on roads or “off road” depending on weather, so wear appropriate footwear.  Bring a dish to pass for potluck after the hike.  Please bring slippers to change into at the house.  The party will start about 5:00 – 5:15 p.m., so come if unable to do the hike.  Punch beverage will be served.  The police department requests that we park on the west side of Bonnie Lane only – so emergency vehicles can get through.

VALENTINES DAY HIKE IN NEW BERLIN

Meet:  Northwest corner of New Berlin Library parking lot. 15105 Library Lane. Bathrooms available at the start.

Fast-paced walk through mostly well-lit, cleared streets around the New Berlin City center and surrounding subdivisions. Flashlights & reflective gear are recommended.

LOEW LAKE TRAIL

The Loew Lake Trail is near the town of Monches, just north of the Washington/Waukesha County line. Take Hwy. Q, to Hwy. K; right on K for 1 mile; right on Emerald Dr. for 2 miles, to Loew Lake Unit parking lot. Park at the same place off Emerald Dr.

SNOWSHOE IAT – SOUTHERN KETTLE MORAINE STATE FOREST HEADQUARTERS LOOP
Meet:  Headquarters parking lot, Southern Unit of Kettle Moraine State Forest.  South of Hwy. 59 between Eagle and Palmyra.

 

5+ miles snowshoe / Kahtoolas

        OR

6+ if hiking because no snow or ice

No state park sticker required.  Trail hiking.  Bring snowshoes if 6 inches or more of snow; ice micro spikes may be needed if ice covered.   Please dress accordingly.

BROWN DEER PARK (SNOWSHOE?) HIKE

Meet:  Parking lot by the tennis courts across the road from the Boathouse Pavilion.  The main entrance to Brown Deer Park is from N. Green Bay Road (address:  7835 N. Green Bay Road).  Other park entrances are from W. Bradley Rd., N. Teutonia Ave., or N. Range Line Rd.

If there is enough snow, we will snowshoe the golf course and other areas of the park; those without snowshoes can walk behind in the snowshoe tracks.  If not enough snow, we will walk through River Hills on the roadways.  Restrooms are available at the beginning and end of the hike in the lower level of the Boathouse Pavilion by the skating rink.

Meet: 100 Columbia Blvd.(6 blocks south of Bluemound Rd., ) Brookfield

GRAFTON INTERURBAN TRAIL
Meet: Meadow Brook Park, 649 N. Green Bay Rd. Directions:  Take I-43 north to Hwy. 60. Exit west on Hwy 60 about 1 mile.  Cross the bridge over the Milwaukee River and turn right on 12th Ave. which becomes Green Bay.    Meadowbrook Park is on the left side of the street.

Trail is paved and plowed in the winter. There will be a short hike on unpaved surfaces through Bratt’s Woods; wear boots for this section.

Restrooms available at Hwy. 60 businesses.

Meet:  Klode Park parking lot, 5900 N. Shore Dr., three blocks north of E. Silver Spring Dr. (E. Belle Ave.) and two blocks east of N. Lake Dr.

Meet:  Pick ‘N Save Plaza, 17295 West Capitol Dr., Brookfield.  (This is at the southwest corner of Calhoun and Capitol.)  Park down by Domino’s and Goodwill.
