Hikes are usually scheduled Tuesday evenings and on Saturday & Sunday.  Additional hikes are held during the day on either Wednesday, Thursday and/or Friday.

Meet: MSOE Student Center, 1025 N. Broadway, corner of Broadway and Highland. Street parking on Broadway and Highland Avenue.

Urban hike through Milwaukee’s spectacular downtown, along its waterfronts, and in its Lower East Side and Third Ward neighborhoods. The Last Tuesday Series departs from MSOE and follows a different route each month. Restrooms available at the start of the hike only. Routes for this yearlong series are on paved streets with some stairs and hills. Back by popular demand, completion, tokens will be given to hikers finishing each monthly hike.

Meet: Villa Grove Park, 1900 West Villa Grove Road, Mequon.

Directions: Take Freistadt Road east from Main Street in Thiensville. Go east about 1.5 miles until park. Entrance on south side of road.  Entrance to park is across the road from River Club of Mequon, which is a golf course.

Bathroom at start – porta potty.  Will hike on roads and dirt trails (Shoreland Nature Preserve).  We will get to the orchid farm unless the river floods out.  We can spend about 1/2 hour at the orchid farm before returning.  You can return after the hike if you want to purchase something rather than carrying it on the hike.

WYALUSING STATE PARK WEEKEND
Meet: Homestead Picnic Area Parking Lot, 13081 State Park Lane, Bagley, WI .

Directions: 7.2 miles southwest of Prairie du Chien on Hwy. 18; turn right (southeast) on Grant County Hwy. C for 3 miles.  Turn right (west) on County Hwy. X to park entrance and follow signs in park to Homestead Picnic Area. Travel time is about 3 hours from Milwaukee.

State Park vehicle sticker required.  Leaders are camping at the park. Form your own carpools.  Hotel options in Prairie du Chien. Bring water, lunch, bug repellent.  Hike includes hilly, rocky, uneven terrain.

RIDGE RUN PARK AND THE ICE AGE TRAIL
Meet: Small lot at the children’s playground.

Directions: Take Hwy. 45 north to West Bend Exit #71.  Go west on Hwy. 33/144 for 1 block and turn left on University Drive. Drive 1/2 mile to Ridge Run Park.  Park in the small lot at the children’s playground.

Bring a snack. This hike is mostly on unpaved trails with some hills.  Park restrooms should be open for the season.  We will hike out and back – no shuttle is needed. Spring wildflowers may be blooming.

The 2nd annual Plein Air MKE Art in the City event is scheduled for May 11 – 21, 2017.  We will be walking on the East Side with the opportunity to occasionally stop and watch some of the 100 PleinAir artists who will be painting along the streets of the Milwaukee Museum Mile.

OVER THE STREAM AND THROUGH THE WOODS

Meet: Mound Zion Woods, Brookfield. Traveling west on North Ave., go past Lilly Rd. and Mound Zion cemetery (14510 W North Ave). Continue west on North Ave. Before the railroad bridge, turn right onto Mound Zion Woods Court.  Go straight and park up by the utility building with the two pipes coming out the top.

Meet: Pine St. & Layton Avenues.

Park near the Speedway gas station. This is an urban city streets hike. Restrooms along the way. Optional lunch at the Market. We will return to cars using city bus. Bus info given at hike. Note earlier start time.

EXPLORING PRISCILLA’S NEIGHBORHOOD
Meet: Corner of N. 76th Street and West Portland Avenue in Wauwatosa.  The address of Hawthorne Terrace Apartments is 7700 West Portland Avenue, Wauwatosa, WI 53213. (The building is a former junior high school and is approximately 1-2 blocks north of Wisconsin Avenue.)

Please park on streets around Hawthorne Terrace and not in the parking lot of the apartment building. Before the hike, Priscilla will be at the door by 3:30 p.m. to let hikers in the building to use the restroom. Enter through the columned main door with “Hawthorne Terrace” over it.  Hawthorne Terrace is a secure building.  If no one is at the door to greet you, just ring the Party Room button, and you will be buzzed in. Be careful for “No Parking” restrictions for street parking.

Meet:  Bender Park, 4503 East Ryan Road, Oak Creek, WI.

Directions:  Take Ryan Road East until you cross Hwy. 32.  Continue 3/10 of a mile to first crossroad and turn right. Drive a short distance to Bender Park sign.  Take park road all the way to the last parking lot near the lake.

LIONS DEN, GRAFTON

Meet: Main parking lot.

Directions: Take I-43 north and exit at Grafton Hwy. 60 East.  Go 1/2 mile and turn left (north) on Hwy. C for about 1-1/4 miles until you see the sign for Lions Den. Turn right (east) on High Bluff. Drive 1/2 mile until road ends at the main parking lot.

Panoramic views of Lake Michigan, wooded ravines, wetlands and an elk farm are featured on this Ozaukee County hike. A steep stairway is optional. Late spring wildflowers may be blooming. Outdoor facilities available at the parking lot.
